Cockney Rhyming Challenge

Inspired by the tradition of Cockney Rhyming Slang this rhyming game for two players will stress your vocabulary as well as your patience.

Any number of players may play. See Cockney Rhyming Slang for an introduction to the rules of rhyming slang.

Select one player to start, using any convenient means (coin toss, die roll, wrestling match, etc.). That player issues the first challenge, by providing a word for which a rhyming-slang-style replacement must be proposed by any of the other players. Replacements must be at least two words long, and must be a valid, meaningful phrase. "Plate of Meat" is acceptable, "Hippopotamus Parakeet" is not.

The first player to propose an acceptable rhyme will receive one point for a valid rhyme, two if their rhyme could be considered synonymous with the challenge word. For example, if the challenge word was "wife", a rhyme of "Light of my Life" would receive two points, while "Fork and Knife" would receive only one point. Temporarily adopting an accent in order to force words to rhyme is both acceptable and encouraged.

If no other player is able to think of a rhyme for the challenge word, the challenger may provide a synonymous replacement in order to win two points for themselves. Thus, it would serve the challenger well to issue challenges for which they know of a witty solution!

Whichever player is awarded points from a challenge issues the next challenge. If no player wins points, the player on the challenger's left becomes the new challenger.
